I am writing to report a dangerous damaged access cover located on the public footway in Newport, Isle of Wight (please see attached photograph). The cover is broken and unstable, creating an open hole within the pavement. As a result of this defect, my pushchair wheel fell into the opening and the pushchair has been damaged. This presents a clear safety hazard, particularly for parents with pushchairs, wheelchair users, elderly pedestrians and children. Please could you: Confirm whether this cover falls under Isle of Wight Council/Island Roads responsibility or a utility provider. Arrange for the defect to be inspected and made safe as a matter of urgency. Provide details of your insurance claims process in relation to the damage caused to my pushchair. The location of the defect is: Outside number 42a Barton Road
