Rainwater pouring off the main road onto my property

When it rains the rainwater from the main road, Newnham Road, pours down our drive. We have a drop-down kerb and so does our neighbour but the water only comes into our drive because of the direction it comes off the road. There is no roadside drain along from the drop-down kerb to the top of Verwood Drive (we are 2nd bungalow from the junction). The water has on many occasions poured down the drive to the front door and sometimes comes into the hallway because the rain has nowhere to go. We have lifted drains on our property to stop the water from coming in. This happens every year but we are just really fed up with it and it’s not even Autumn yet. If we put sandbags along the drop-down kerb we would have to move them every time we needed to move a car and as my parents life with us they would not be able to lift them as they are unsteady on their feet. Please help!
