Obscured Vision For Pedestrians

Reported via mobile in the Car Park Machine Not Working category by Karl-Inge Bayly at 11:57, Sunday 27 April 2025

Sent to Island Roads 23 hours, 5 minutes later. Enquiry ref: 16289823.

Good morning, I am often visiting my girlfriend in East Cowes and going for walks around Saunders Way and have noticed when out with my girlfriends young daughters, that by the dropped curb as you are coming from Abbey walk to cross Saunders Way there are often large vans parked facing up the hill making it extremely dangerous for pedestrians to cross the road safely as vision of traffic approaching up the hill from the right is completely obscured. This is especially dangerous for children and the elderly crossing at this point. I believe that some double yellow lines should be implemented at this point to prevent vehicles parking so close to the pedestrian dropped curb. I am also very concerned at the speed of vehicles that are driving through Saunders Way and believe that the current 40mph speed limit is excessive in a built up area. I hope that these matters are looked into before someone is seriously injured or ever worse, killed. Kind regards Karl-Inge Bayly
