Bembridge Upper High Street road condition is continuing to deteriorate

Reported via desktop in the Rough/Uneven or Surface Issue category anonymously at 10:12, Tuesday 4 February 2025

Sent to Island Roads 30 minutes later. Enquiry ref: 16285050.

Upper High Street is riddled with pothole patches over a length of about 200 metres which causes drivers to watch the road more carefully than anything else - pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles. The worst section is close to the junction of High Street and Woodland Grove where regular deep puddling on the road edge/pavement is occurring. Early in January this froze over and at least two people slipped and ended up in A&E. One was a lady of nearly 90 who suffered a fracture and is still suffering. The other was a fit man. This is an important road which at times is used as an alternative route by buses and heavy vehicles and compromised road edges and pavement to me is quite a serious issue for pedestrians. This section of road is continuing to deteriorate.
