Florence Road, Shanklin PO37 6PB

Following road resurfacing on 5-6 Aug 2024, several motorists (mainly holidaying tourists) have taken advantage of the temporary absence if the usual double yellow lines to use the whole street as a free car park.

The specific vehicle subject of report (blue Ford Focus index E003KOX) arrived during the evening of Wed. 7th Aug. (during Shanklin main carnival) and has remained unmoved in situ since to time of reporting (Sat. 10th Aug).

No persons have been seen to approach or enter the car since its arrival - local residents do not recognise the car, it has not been noted in the street previously and is not known to be visiting a local address.

The concern of local residents is that it has been unlawfully abandoned on the carriageway where it is impeding both traffic flow along the carriageway itself, and pedestrian/wheelchair/pram use of the pavement (the nearside wheels having mounted it).

The car is secure and seemingly undamaged.

Its current location will frustrate the repainting if the road’s double yellow lines due to take place soon.

Enquiries to establish ownership, lost/stolen status and initiation of removal procedures are requested to alleviate those issues highlighted.
