Shared use path overgrown with singling nettles

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation Encroachment category anonymously at 21:52, Thu 25 July 2024

Sent to Island Roads 11 hours, 26 minutes later. Enquiry ref: 16272979.

This shared use path is very overgrown with stinging nettles and, currently, it's impossible to cycle along it without being repeatedly stung. It's concerning that, for small children, the nettles are are head height. The path is so overgrown that it's impossible to pass a horse or another cyclist at a safe distance in many places between Shide and Blackwater. Clearly the interval between cutting back undergrowth is inadequate and the fact that this maintenance was not carried out before the school summer holidays indicates an inept lack of foresight and a failure of Island Road's Duty of Care. Please can you ensure the path is not allowed to deteriorate to state again, especially at this time of year. Please ensure the stinging nettles and foliage is cut back as soon as possible.
