Misleading 'Coach Parking' directional signs

Reported via desktop in the Sign Twisted/Misaligned category anonymously at 15:45, Thursday 8 July 2021

Sent to Island Roads 7 minutes later. Enquiry ref: 16200750.

There are signs present near to the entrance to the Old Smithy car park, opposite the Griffin PH. The signs show a silhouette of a coach next to a P (parking symbol) and are directing coaches into the Old Smithy. Unfortunately, the Old Smithy are not currently excepting coaches and have installed a height restriction barrier across the vehicular entrance to their property. Issue follows that a coach driver is likely to follow the signs and turn into the entrance without realising that he/she cannot proceed into the parking area thus then forcing him/her to reverse back out onto the High Street which wouldn't be safe for a coach. Obviously the signs should be covered unless this is to be a permenent policy of the Old Smithy.

  • Almost 6 weeks since I reported this and I note that nothing has been done. Signs are still visible to coach drivers and barrier preventing access to the coach park is still in place.
