For att: Mr John Barry. We have a surface water drain running underneath our garden. Recently, (during last couple of months), in times of heavy rain, water has been issuing from around a manhole cover part way down the garden, (see pics), causing the lower part of the garden to flood. The water then runs over the lower panels of our neighbour's fence like a waterfall, causing damage to his landscaping. Sam from Southern Water has opened the manhole, confirms that it is a surface water drain, (not sewage), and found the chamber below half full of water. There is obviously a blockage of the drain somewhere downhill from here, causing the water to be retained and this overflows in heavy rain. Sam reckons it is an Island Roads asset. Please would you attend to this before it causes too many problems.
